Your Existing Georgia Certificate Determines the ESOL Route
The Georgia Professional Standards Commission's ESOL rule distinguishes the Professional or Five-Year Induction route from the Three-Year Non-Renewable or Induction route. The latter requires a request from an employing local unit of administration.
Check the certificate category you hold and the rule's in-field conditions for your intended English or ESOL assignment.
Confirm that your employing school system will request the credential and identify the preparation you must complete.
Georgia's ESOL preparation rule describes P–12 programs that may stand alone or be embedded in another preparation program. Ask a provider which state-approved route it offers and how its field experiences fit your assignment.
