Connecticut Cross-Endorsement
Check the Base Certificate Before Counting TESOL Credits
Connecticut treats TESOL Endorsement 111 as a cross-endorsement for a teacher with an active initial, provisional or professional certificate. It cannot be added to an administrative, adult education, special-service or vocational certificate alone.
- Confirm that your existing Connecticut certificate is a qualifying teaching certificate.
- Map the TESOL preparation to the state's subject-major or 30-credit TESOL route, including the additional bilingualism, world-language or literacy component where applicable.
- Check the state's approved-course directory, then submit the application, fee and official transcripts for Connecticut's final course review.
The general Endorsement 111 specification also describes a bachelor's degree and 39 general-education credits; ask the certification office which parts of that specification it must re-evaluate for an already licensed teacher.
