Alaska Endorsement Route
For ESL, Build the Approved-Program Evidence First
Alaska excludes ESL and ELL from its posted-degree and content-knowledge-plus-teaching-experience methods. Its program-completion method requires a state-approved teacher preparation or endorsement program and the endorsement content exam.
- Ask the provider whether it is approved for the exact Alaska ESL endorsement you seek and who signs the State-Approved Program Verification form.
- Confirm the current endorsement exam and complete the preparation requirements.
- Use the Additional Endorsement application in TEACH-AK. Alaska says additions can be made only to certificates valid for at least two years; upload the required documents there and mail fingerprints separately.
The agency also lists a separate statewide SLABEL endorsement. Name the precise credential when asking a provider or the agency for a route review.
