Introduction Letter to Host Family

As you begin your preparations to study abroad, it is a good idea for you to write a simple letter to your future host family. It is important that you thank your host family for the opportunity to live with them during your time studying abroad. Letters are a great way to introduce yourself along with your hobbies and expectations in order to provide your host family with a better understanding of your character, preferences and points of view.

Mr. and Ms. Henderson

Forest Hills, NY 11375 USA

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Henderson,

Greetings from Paris!

Thank you very much for allowing me to stay with you as a home stay student beginning on August 1, 2020. I am very excited to experience living in your home while studying at ABC Language School.

I am a junior at Paris University majoring in International Business. I hope to earn an MBA degree in the United States after completing my undergraduate studies.

I have been told in a letter from ABC English Language School you enjoy watching baseball games. I am a big fan of Major League baseball, as well. I hope we will have the chance to go to a baseball game together.

I will leave for the U.S. on Sunday, August 1, 2010 on Air France Airlines Flight # 12 and will arrive at JFK Airport at 4:00 pm on the same day. The airport pick-up service arranged by my school will pick me up at the airport and take me directly to your house.

I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Henri Tatou
