EAP English for Academic Purposes

Dear ApplyESL advisor,
My name’s Diana. I’m a 20 year old girl living in Germany. I’d love to attend ESL at Dominican University, Chicago. I’ve carefully read your FAQ and Q&A. I’ve got some more questions concerning the EAP English for Academic Purposes course.

First of all, I’m planning on studying Psychology at an American University.

Is it advisable to attend the EAP course at the University where I want to study Psychology later on? I’ve read that one gets 3 credit points when Level 112 achieved at EAP course at Grand Valley University. Now I’m not sure where I should go for the EAP course. Does it matter where I attend the EAP course? Does the certificate of the EAP course make a huge difference when applying to an American University? I’m currently weighing the odds.

I’ve already made up my mind, I absolutely want to attend an American University, undergraduate program Psychology. I’m very ambitious and my career aspiration is to become a psychotherapist either for children and adolescents or adults.

Thank you very much in advance for your reply.

Kind regards,
Diana

You can always contact a student advisor through that email address.
ELS and other schools have agreements with colleges and universities so when
you complete the program, your English certificate will meet their English requirements.
You also may want to consider whether the university you are interested in has
an English program with conditional admission.
