- About the ESL School
- The Intensive English Program at American English Institute (AEI) helps students improve their English quickly to succeed in a U.S. academic setting and speak and write with confidence in the workplace. Students at the beginner level can successfully attain advanced level English skills in less than a year with our Intensive English programs. (They have 5 classrooms, a lounge, and a library.)
AEI designed our intensive program to improves students' English and academic skills. They offer 5 levels of English from beginner to advanced.
-Receive instruction 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 1:35 PM
-Take courses in reading, writing, grammar, listening & speaking
-Complete one level in an 8-week session
-4-Week and semi-intensive sessions available
-Minimum age: 17+
-Classes begin monthly
The weather is perfect year round with sunny, warm and dry conditions most of the year and few rainy days. Major festivals are offered throughout the year including the Festival of Lights, Lunar Festival, Tamale Festival, Day of the Dead, and the Dickens Festival. Prior to students' arrival, they may require housing assistance from American English Institute to help them arrange placement in an American homestay. Students will be confident when arriving that they have safe housing so they can concentrate on learning English quickly and easily in comfortable surroundings.
Students can choose to live in homestay with an American family during their studies. American families offer students the opportunity to experience American culture and provide opportunities for students to practice their English daily.
HOMESTAY PROVIDES:
-Single occupancy room with shared bathroom
-Bed, dresser, and desk
-Linens (sheets, blankets, and pillow)
-Two meals per day--breakfast and dinner, 7 days per week (14 meals per week)
All homestays are located within 30 minutes of American English Institute either by foot, bus, or bicycle.
*Check-in is Sunday (the day prior to the program start date).
*Check-out is Saturday (the day after the program end date). - Surrounding Area
- American English Institute (AEI) is in the heart of Riverside, California. Riverside, the city of arts and innovation, has a thriving downtown area offering restaurants, bars, clubs, museums, and the famous Mission Inn. AEI also offers quick getaways to beaches and local ski areas less than an hour away. Students can also enjoy a quick bus trip to Disneyland from Riverside on the local bus.
It is the largest city in the county with 336,000 residents and three major universities in its city limits welcoming young students to study in a college town atmosphere.

The Intensive English Program at American English Institute (AEI) is ideal for students seeking to improve their English for future success in a global world. It provides a balanced curriculum including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation. The Intensive English Program (IEP) is offered in 8-week sessions and offers 5 levels from high beginner to advanced. Students complete a level in just 8 weeks.
Small classes and expert instructors help students to feel comfortable speaking from day one of the program and provide many opportunities to speak and receive personal attention from the instructors. - Data

Vacation English
- Overview
- Students that want to study on a B1/B2 or ESTA can study in the Vacation English Program. It offers flexibility so that students can customize their program. They can study from 2-8 weeks. (NOTE: This program is not for F-1 visa students.)
Our Vacation English Program is ideal for students who want to explore and improve their English while enjoying their vacation in the U.S.
