    • General English Program (25 lessons/week)

    • Overview
    • The Program is offered year-round with sessions beginning every week. Students enrolled in the program receive 25 lessons of classroom instruction per week. The program’s flexible timetable provides students with practical class work to develop their key language skills.

The Program offers 8 levels of English classes, from beginner to advanced. On the first day of school, new students are given a placement test in every skill area (grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening) and are placed in the appropriate class level based upon the results of the examination the following day.

The classes are held Monday through Friday. The program’s curriculum is primarily designed to cover all the fundamental language skill areas: grammar, vocabulary, conversation, pronunciation, listening comprehension, reading and writing. Elective courses are also part of the curriculum for students to focus their English studies while building their core language skills.

The average number of students per class ranges from 10 to 12, with a maximum of 15. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction. The VanWest classrooms are very bright, clean, and spacious. Many classrooms have incredible views of downtown Vancouver and its beautiful skyline.
