    • Established in 1992, Tamwood International College operates two carefully designed and managed private English language schools in Canada. Regarded as one of the nation's top programs, Tamwood provides outstanding English language courses for adults, students and teenagers to meet their personal, professional and academic language-speaking goals. With schools operating at two locations famously regarded as Canada's most stunning locations - cosmopolitan Vancouver and world-renowned Whistler - students are sure to enjoy their time outside of the classroom as much as in the classroom. Tamwood's English programs are designed to combine the most modern learning techniques with interesting and stimulating subject matter, allowing the English language-learning process to be easy and enjoyable. To benefit students and make the most of their language learning experience, Tamwood enforces a strict "English Only" policy requiring students to speak only in English while in school and during activities. The "English Only" policy combined with Tamwood's warm, welcoming atmosphere brings students from all nationalities together as they move forward in accomplishing the same goal of learning English.

  • Study Options
    • Intensive English Program

    • Overview
    • Students enrolled in the program receive 24 hours (32 lessons) of classroom instruction per week. Students select their desired course length when registering at the beginning of each new session.

The program offers seven levels of instruction from beginner to advanced. Placement in these levels depends upon the results of a placement test taken on the first day of class. The program's rigorous curriculum focuses on developing students' fundamental English skills in the areas of: grammar, writing, pronunciation, intonation, listening and speaking. The instruction of each ability level is uniquely structured, where students learn how to use practical English in real-life situations. Elective courses are offered during the afternoons where students can study topics pertinent to their personal interests, including: TOEFL Preparation, Business English and Integrated Skills.

Tamwood has a strict "English Only" policy where students are required to speak in English while at school and during program-organized activities. This rule in addition to the friendly Tamwood atmosphere encourages students of different backgrounds to learn more about each other while using English as the common form of communication.

Class sizes range from 10 to 15 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.
