  • The mission of the Intensive English Program at the University of West Florida is to prepare students for success in a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree program in the United States. The experienced faculty focus on improving students’ ability to speak, listen, read, and write in English at a high academic level. The program also focuses on the requirements for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), which is required to study at many American universities.

  • Housing
  • While attending the school, students have the option to live in on-campus dormitories or off-campus residences. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities, and other students – both American and international. For students who prefer a more independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the campus environment. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as soon as possible due to the limited amount of space available. The school may provide information about private off-campus apartments; however, it is the students’ responsibility to make their own arrangements.     Pensacola is a vibrant and energetic city that is home to some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world. The city is close to big cities like New Orleans, Atlanta, and Orlando and has been named one of the “Top 125 Cities to Live” in the US. The main UWF campus is 1,600 acres (6.5 km2) of rolling hills and natural woodland along the Escambia River with buildings and residences designed to complement the natural forest and waterways and is also close to pristine state and national parks that capture our coastal beauty. UWF is also ranked as one of the safest universities in the state of Florida.

  • At the University of West Florida, everyone is welcome, all cultures are celebrated, and every student graduates prepared for a global future! With more than 70 undergraduate degree programs, master's degrees in 32 programs, and doctoral degrees in three programs, the University of West Florida has a degree to meet your educational goals.
    
    The UWF College of Business (AACSB accreditation) and the UWF College of Engineering (ABET accreditation) have achieved the highest level of international accreditation, an achievement placing these degree programs on par with the best schools in the world. Less than 3% of Colleges of Business in the world and less than 5% of Colleges of Engineering in the world have achieved these accreditations, with many of their graduates getting their start at the Intensive English Program.
    
    The University of West Florida also offers many large scholarships. In fact, nearly 100% of Graduate students receive a Graduate Assistantship, have a job on campus, and receive a tuition discount worth approximately $8,000 per year. Students from Latin American and Caribbean countries are also eligible for scholarships worth up to $15,000 per year.
    
  • Conditional Admission / Credit Courses
  • The University of West Florida may offer conditional admission to Graduate applicants who meet all the academic requirements for admission, but do not have the English skills necessary to study in the University. To apply for conditional admission, students must submit an application to both the UWF Intensive English Program and the UWF Graduate School. Students who have been conditionally admitted must enroll full-time in the Intensive English Program until they have completed the English requirement. Students have one year to complete the English requirement to receive full admission to the University.
