  • Students have the option, while attending Tennessee Tech University’s Center for ESL program, to live in on-campus housing arranged by the school. Students living on-campus will be close to their classes, able to participate in many campus activities, and make friend and interact with the other students – both American and international. It’s important to apply early for on-campus housing. It is the student’s responsibility to make their own individual housing arrangements.

    Students who live on campus are required to purchase a meal plan. If a student has a special diet, we recommend you to live off-campus so you can prepare your own meals (vegan, halal, kosher).

  • Tennessee Tech University is located in a college town called Cookeville, which has a population of 30,000 people (the local vicinity has over 100,000 residents), which makes the region feel more metropolitan.
    
    Located between three of Tennessee’s largest metropolitan cities, Music City USA, Nashville, located East, home to many famous singers-Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, the Black Keys, Kings of Leon and Paramore, West- Knoxville, South- Chattanooga and 2 hours from the most visited National Park in the USA, the Great Smoky Mountains.
    
    Tennessee Tech is surrounded by 3 State Parks and the region has hundreds of waterfalls, lakes, mountains and rivers, with the most ecologically diverse climate comparable to the Amazon River.

Students are taught to hone an awareness of societal, ecological, and economical needs of their disciplines, as well as adhere to high ethical standards. Senior-level classes concentrate on collaboration in teams to design, construct, and test innovations. This prepares students to enter the work force well prepared.   • Overview
  • Students attending on a student visa (F-1) generally take 18 to 24 hours each week. The classes are non-credit, and each semester has 2 start dates. The Center for ESL has 5 levels, from level 1-Novice to Level 2- intermediate, to Level 3- advanced to Level 4-pathway to Level 5-college ready.
    Once a student reaches level 4 or 5, students can begin to take academic courses at Tennessee Tech University, as a Pathway student or by matriculating into Tennessee Tech University’s Academic programs.
    The Summer term is much longer consisting of 10 weeks, with 1 session 5 weeks and the other 5 weeks. 18 to 24 hours of contact time is the minimum requirement by the USCIS/ SEVP. Students are also able to study part-time, and take only 1 of the 4 subjects offered at the Center for ESL.
