    • Shawn Leigh opened ALI in 2009 with one student and has now exceeded 200 students in 2017. Shawn has a vision to continue expanding the school.
      “American Learning Institute (ALI) is an English as a Second Language program provider for adults, specifically for those who want to learn English in the U.S. for their academic or non-academic goals. ALI also provides its students with opportunities to learn English with an understanding of American culture.”

      Kasandra Miller started in 2013 as an instructor and student advisor. She became the Director of Student Affairs and DSO in 2015, then became PDSO in 2017. Kasandra can help students with SEVIS records, school transfers, attendance concerns, and overall program concerns.

    • While studying at ALI, students will have the opportunity to live in off-campus residences. For students who prefer an independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the school environment. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available.

It boasts a world renowned international airport and an unusually wide variety of restaurants, with cuisines from all around the world. Dallas also contains enriching arts and entertainment attractions such as the Dallas Symphony, the Dallas Museum of Art, amusement parks, and outdoor music performances.

    • ALI provides students with five different levels of intensive English language classes for three 14-week trimesters each year and four days each week (Monday–Thursday), with both morning and evening class options. At ALI, students not only improve their English skills, but also learn about American culture and make classmate friends from around the world. In addition, ALI partners with Leigh Law Group (LLG) to give students and clients the legal advice they need regarding visa issues and other immigration matters. Also, ALI’s Student Services guides students in pursuing higher education with ALI’s partner colleges and universities.

    • At ALI, students can expect to receive the quality English education they deserve. The academic program includes a course series developed by Pearson Education, Inc., a world class leader in Education. For the intensive English program, the program uses Pearson’s NorthStar, Fourth Edition – a blended-learning course for the 21st Century. ALI helps students improve in areas such as vocabulary, basic grammar, speaking and pronunciation, reading and writing. Course offerings consist of the following five course levels:

      Level 2 = Pre-intermediate
      Level 3 = Intermediate
      Level 4 = Pre-advanced
