- More Details
- Housing
- ELS provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students – both American and international. ELS also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.
- Surrounding Area
- The ELS Language Center on the Saint Joseph’s University campus is located on the edge of downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a celebrated and lovely city recognized as the “Birthplace of America.” Regarded as one of the nation's most historic cities, Philadelphia was the United States capital from 1790-1800 and is the location where the Declaration of Independence was signed. As the 5th largest city in the United States with a total population of 1.8 million people, Philadelphia (commonly called “Philly”) offers its visitors and residents cultural attractions such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet, 50 museums including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Zoo, the oldest in the United States. The downtown area’s Penn’s Landing is the perfect sightseeing spot situated on the waterfront for visitors to explore the Independence Seaport Museum, take the RiverLink Ferry to the New Jersey Aquarium, or enjoy the summer music series during the warm summer months. Throughout the year, sports lovers can cheer on Philadelphia's professional sports teams, including the Phillies (baseball), the Eagles (football), the 76ers (basketball) and the Flyers (hockey). The location of this historic city offers a temperate climate and four distinct seasons. Spring and autumn in Philadelphia are sunny and especially pleasant because of the warm winds off the Atlantic Ocean. The Amtrak train station is a short walk from the University campus and provides easy and affordable travel to New York City, Washington, D.C., Atlantic City and Boston.

Perfectly organized schoolI’m really proud of my choice of ELS Philadelphia. I can’t imagine another way to improve my English than the and the well prepared teachers. The staff is always available for any requests, to encourage you and help students achieve their academic or professional goals. The whole atmosphere you are surrounded by lets everyone feel comfortable. Another reason why I’m really satisfied with my studies is the amenities the campus offers. I enjoyed not only the efficient library and the up-to-date gym, but also the trips to the close towns of New York, Washington and Boston. In short, this campus location is strategic to study, travel and experience the typical American lifestyle.

Now I can speak fluentlyWhen I first came to ELS, I didn't think that I will be ready to start my upper studies in such a short period of time. After 9 months of studying at ELS, I didn't just finish level 112, but also got I high score at the TOEFL exam because of the English program at ELS. Now I can speak fluently, read novels, and write many kinds of articles and researches. ELS made my dream comes true. Thank you ELS for everything that you has been giving to us.
