- The University of Nevada, Reno is located in the center of downtown Reno, a city situated in northern Nevada that is known for its rich, vibrant history and internationally-renowned events and entertainment. Downtown’s Virginia Street corridor is the center of activity not only for gambling but for special events, as well. The casinos’ bright lights and the famous Reno Arch, declaring Reno as “The Biggest Little City in the World” greet visitors as they enter the downtown area. Reno is a city with numerous exciting attractions including fine libraries, museums, art galleries, and parks which are enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike.
The 16,000 students at the University of Nevada, Reno also contribute to the community's culture and diversity, making Reno a world-class tourist destination with a rich arts scene and year-round outdoor activities. Located at a comfortable 1,500 meters above sea level, students can enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine each year while living in Reno. The area receives about 12 inches of precipitation annually, much of which is snow at the higher altitudes. - Established in 1874, the University of Nevada, Reno is home to 16,000 students from more than eighty countries. The 200-acre campus is comprised of eleven schools and colleges and offers more than 70 majors for the undergraduate degree, including journalism, business, political science, natural science, economics, and fine arts, along with a broad range of graduate level and doctoral programs.
The institution is the only university in the United States that offers a doctoral degree program in Basque Studies; outside of Spain, the University is one of only three Basque Studies programs found worldwide. Program Description:
The Academic English Program aligns with the university semester. Students study English for Academic Purposes in a university classroom setting.
[Program Structure]
Courses prepare degree-seeking students to efficiently read academic texts, write coherent academic assignments and participate in their classroom lectures and discussions with confidence. Students will take:
-Applied Integrative Skills: 10 hours
Students focus on improving their listening and speaking skills for the academic realm. They listen to and analyze talks and conversations, participate in group work activities, practice various presentation styles, and learn note-taking skills. The course combines in-class presentation and practice from classroom texts with extensive reading practice and online self-study that reviews and expands on the classroom material.
-Grammar in Context: 10 hours
Students learn to speak and write about facts and ideas related to their daily lives by improving the accuracy of the grammatical structures they use and expanding their vocabulary. Through text and speech analysis, guided practice exercises and communicative tasks, students study the form, meaning and use of new grammatical structures and work to integrate them into their everyday language production.

在IELC的上課期間裡，認識並結交到很多來自不同國家的學生，同時也增進了本身的語言能力；UNR是個環境優良、很適合學生讀書、增長知識的好學校。
UNR的學生宿舍很安全，UNR的學生們也很熱情，生活交通、飲食、購物都很便利，很適合初次到異國念書的國際學生們。

저는 유학원을 알아보지 않고 이 사이트를 통해
네바다 주립대에 속해있는 IELC 프로그램을 통해 한학기동안
이곳에서 공부한 학생입니다.
일단 수업 자체는 괜찮았습니다. 선생님에 따라 다르긴 하지만 학기말로 갈수록 힘들어지긴 하더라구요,(중간 학기에 새로운 학생들이 많이 들어와서 수업이 산만해지는게 아쉬웠습니다.)
그리고 학교 시설이나 스테프들도 너무 친절했구요! 일단 학생들을 위한다는게 느껴졌습니다.( 미국에 오기 전에 제가 모르는 답변에 하나하나 친절하게 이메일로 답해주셨습니다.)
한주 수업 마지막 날인 금요일에는 매번 수업후 학생들끼리 모여서 이야기를 하거나 박물관 또는 볼링장에 갈수 있는 프로그램이 있었습니다.
저는 기숙사에 머물렀는데 주방이 딸려있는 곳이라서 매우 만족했었고 룸메이트들과 대화하며 회화 실력이 좀더 늘은것 같다는 생각이 듭니다.
어딜가나 자신이 하기 나름이라는 말.. 절실히 느끼고 떠납니다. 수업시간에 잠깐 말하는 걸로는 부족합니다. 어떻게 해서든 외국인과 마주치며 화화할수 있는 기회를 높히는게 짧은 어학연수 기간동안 가장 많이 거둘 수 있는 열매가 아닌가 하는 생각이 들었습니다. :)

UNR 괜찮은것같아요~^^저는 지금 IELC프로그램에서 수강하고 있는 학생인데 RENO는 안전하고, 사람들도 친절합니다. 이 프로그램은 선생님들도 잘가르치시고 커리큘럼도 좋습니다. 야외활동도 많이있고..전체적으로 괜찮은것같아요~^^

안녕하세요. 한국에서 대학교를 다니고 있는 2학년생 대학생입니다.
작년에 군 전역후 운이 좋게 어학연수 기회가 생겼습니다. 여기저기 추천하는 곳도 많았고 갈등도 많이 했습니다. 그러던 중 지인들을 통해 네바다주에 있는 소도시 리노에 대해 알게되었고 그곳에 있는 주립대 인 University of Nevada Reno (이하 unr) 를 알게되었습니다. 저는 유학원 같이 비용이드는 경로는 최대한 배제한체 순수히 apply ELS를 통해 어학연수를 시작했었습니다. 물론 처음에는 어떻게 준비해야할지 무엇을 해야할지 막막했었습니다. 다행히도 이곳 사이트에서 많은 정보와 무료 지원대행등의 혜택에 힘입어 무사히 지원을 한후 어학연수를 다녀 올수 있었습니다. 그렇게 시작된 미국 생활이 항상 평탄했던것 만은 아니였습니다. 군전역 직후 인 탓에 영어에 대한 완전 무지한 상태로 시작했었고 그럴수록 자신을 채찍질 하며 더 열심히 생활하려고 한것 같습니다. 제가 생활했었던 University of Nevada Reno는 네바다의 소도시 리노에 위치하고 있으며 크고 복잡하지 않아서 제게는 정말 좋았던것 같았습니다. 그곳에서의 어학연수 생활은 IELC (intensive english language center)에서 하였습니다. 힘들고 어려울때도 많았지만
돌이켜보면 참 좋은 경험이었고 나쁜 기억보다는 오히려 좋은 기억만 가득했던 1년을 보낸것 같습니다. 연고도 없이 지인도 없이 막막하게 시작했던 미국 생활이었지만 할 수있다라는 자신감만 있으면
모든 어려운 과제를 다 헤쳐나갈수 있는 것 같습니다. 정보가 부족하다고 타지의 생활이 두렵다고 망설이는 것은 바보같은 생각이라고
