  • Practice English in the stimulating academic environment of one of the leading universities in the United States. The school offers two distinct English programs: English Language Program (ELP) and Academic English Program (AEP). ELP consists of 7 levels, from beginning to advanced. ELP is appropriate for students who are preparing for undergraduate study in the US, as well as for students who wish to improve their English for personal or professional reasons. AEP has 4 levels, from low intermediate to advanced. This unique program is designed for students who already have a bachelor’s degree and are preparing for a master’s or Ph.D. program. Outside of class, explore Austin and make friends through our weekly social events and conversation groups. Our faculty and staff are here to help you achieve your goals.

  • There are many options for housing in the Austin area, such as dormitories, apartments (furnished or unfurnished), and cooperative houses. Each of these types of housing will have different living space, costs, and food service availability. You are responsible for making your own housing arrangements.

  • Austin is the capital of Texas, and is consistently ranked as one of the top ten cities in the US to live. It is currently the 11th largest city in the US, with a population of approximately 950,000 within the 600 square kilometer city limits. While having the amenities of a large North American city, Austin, especially the university area, retains the atmosphere of a much smaller town. The natural beauty of Austin has been preserved in 17,000 acres (68 sq. km) of greenspace and 220 parks, offering a wealth of settings for swimming, cycling, hiking, and other outdoor activities.   • Overview
  • Classes meet 5 days a week for a total of 18 hours weekly and have daily homework. Classes are highly interactive, and students practice the tasks required for them to be successful in a degree program in the US, including reading authentic materials, writing documented research papers, giving presentations, leading and participating in group discussions, and understanding lectures. Core courses are: listening/speaking, writing, grammar, and reading/discussion. Students may also take 6-week elective classes: TOEFL (iBT) preparation, IELTS preparation, GRE preparation, and pronunciation.

    The ELP at UT Austin
    

    I’ve spent more than three months in Austin, Texas and during that period I met many people and have a lot of new friends. The people in Texas are so social that everyone says howdy to the other even if they don't know them. Regarding the ELP, it is one of the best programs in the U.S. As I always meet high-level scholarship students who came, for example, from SABIC, KAUST, and ARAMCO, having such students is proof that the English Language Program is very good.

    The program at UT ESL was the best experience in my life. Austin is a great place for English study because there are many multi-cultural things to do. UT ESL helped me grow in several ways, especially with time management. Because of program I learnt how to balance my schedule for classes and homework. I chose UT ESL because they support every student really carefully. They always focus on what students need and they provide an amazing program of classes and events.     University of Texas at Austin (UT), English as a Second Language (ESL) Services is the best high-quality program that foreign students can take for several reasons.
