  • Established in 1992, Tamwood International College operates two carefully designed and managed private English language schools in Canada. To benefit students and make the most of their language learning experience, Tamwood enforces a strict "English Only" policy requiring students to speak only in English while in school and during activities. The "English Only" policy combined with Tamwood's warm, welcoming atmosphere brings students from all nationalities together as they move forward in accomplishing the same goal of learning English. Students study on the Whistler campus during the winter and spring and go skiing and snowboarding; however students also have a wide selection of other activities to enjoy, including: rock-climbing, museum tours, cross-country skiing, indoor volleyball, floor hockey and ice skating. During the weekends, students join Tamwood's organized excursions and travel to Vancouver to go sightseeing, watch professional sports games, go shopping and enjoy a great night life.

  • Tamwood provides students with the opportunity to enjoy a homestay experience. This housing option is ideal for those students who want to experience Canadian culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. As there are more hotels than homes in Whistler, the number of available host families may be limited. As a result, students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private apartments may also be available near the Whistler campus; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.

  • Whistler Resort is a world-class travel destination for skiers and snowboarders around the world. As the number one ski resort in North-America, Whistler has the largest ski area on the continent with over 7,000 acres of skiable terrain, 200 marked trails and 12 massive Alpine bowls. Tamwood's Whistler English School is located in the center of North America's number one resort destination. Only two hours from the Vancouver airport, Whistler is a beautiful mountain resort that every visitor to Canada should experience. Whistler campus is located in the Whistler International Conference Centre in the center of Whistler Village and its many attractions. Within a few minutes, students can walk to the ski lifts, golf course, shops, and restaurants. The Whistler International Conference Centre is a spacious and modern building with large classrooms and a well furnished student lounge, computer lab, ski equipment storage room, tuning room and meeting area.

  • Overview
  • Full-Time English Program is designed for students who desire free time in their schedules while studying English. Program includes 20 lessons (About 17 hours) of English instruction per week.
    
    This program offers three levels of instruction from beginner to advanced. Placement in these levels depends upon the students’ performance on a Placement Test which will be taken on the first day of the class. Course instruction includes grammar, writing, pronunciation, intonation, listening, and speaking. The instruction of each level is uniquely structured to provide students with opportunities to use their English language skills in real life situations.
    
    Tamwood has a strict "English Only" policy which means that students are required to speak in English while in school and during activities. This rule applied to the friendly atmosphere at Tamwood encourages students of different backgrounds to get to know each other using English as the common form of communication.
    
    Class sizes range from 8 to 12 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.

  • Getting To Your School
  • From Vancouver International Airport:
    School provides a pick up service for CAN$125 that brings homestay students directly to their host family’s residence. Although travel time varies depending on where the host family lives, it usually takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
    Due to the considerable travel distance, students who will not use the pick up service should secure travel plans well in advance. It is possible to take a taxi directly to a homestay residence.
