Welcome to the American Language Center at Bloomfield College for ESL courses!

The American Language Center (ALC) offers an extensive year-round English Language program for all types of students whether you are coming from another country or whether you are living nearby.  With customized levels of instruction from beginner to advanced, classes cover Grammar and Structure, Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing, American English Pronunciation, and the American culture.  All of our courses lead to English proficiency whether for academic purposes or better social and business communications at work or with friends.

At the ALC, we provide an integrated approach to language learning and its use is reinforced through creative and dynamic learning activities.  Students build fluency by applying what they learn to meaningful, practical situations.  Real-life materials and activities are an integral part of our curriculum.

Students meet four times a week in our daytime program. 

The ALC is known for:

Through the ALC, we also offer TOEFL prep for the TOEFL examination.
