ELP在1960年初成立，主要是為國際學生提供高品質的英語教學和讓他們了解美國式的生活及文化。每年，多達1,800名來自於世界各地的在校學生和上班族都來到ELP接受選擇性廣泛的各種英語課程，包括普通英語、商業英語、學術英語、和各種專業英語課程。比方說法律、建築、牙醫學和護理學。在課堂以外，學生可以通過每天在不同的宿舍與同學間的交流練習英文和親身體會美國的生活。就讀ELP的學生可以根據學生證使用校園的各種學習、娛樂、和體育設施：15個不同類型的圖書館、可以上網的電腦實驗室、校園巴士、體育館、游泳池、和溜冰場等。ELP是(UCIEP)美國大學院校附屬英語課程聯盟以及美國密集英語課程聯盟 (AAIEP) 的成員之一，竭力為學生提供品質優良的英語課程與良好學習環境。

| 英語程度達到高級的同學可以根據英語程度的考試成績或者原校成績單（原版配合英文翻譯）向學校的兩個附屬學院申請就讀學分課程：College of Liberal and Professional Studies 和 Wharton School的夜校。 |

每年，ELP都有1,800多名學生從世界各地來學習英語。其中有69%的學生來自於亞洲（包括韓國、臺灣、日本、和中國), 4%來自於拉丁美洲, 5%來自歐洲, 19%來自中東, 3%來自非洲。
|
|
|
|
| 所有的ELP老師都是經驗豐富，經常出版書籍、報章，並活躍於各種教育團體的教授。他們全部擁有教英語的碩士或博士學位，其中也有具備MBA學位的教員。 |

|
| ELP的學生有三種住宿選擇：學校宿舍 (Sheraton University City Hotel), 校外出租公寓(International House of Philadelphia), 寄宿家庭。學校宿舍離課室比較近，方便參與各種校園舉辦的活動，而且可以結交來自世界各地的朋友。比較喜歡獨立的同學可以考慮出租公寓，作息時間可以根據自己的方便安排。如果想體驗美國生活的同學， 就應該考慮選擇住宿家庭。無論同學選擇哪一種環境，都應該在申請時留意學校是否有提供自己所需要的住宿，而且要儘早做出安排。如果有更多關於住宿的問題，請利用學校的聯絡資料向學校提出問題。 |

| 自從美國的獨立宣言在費城簽署後，費城便成為了美國從1790年到1800年的首都。也是美國現在公認的歷史城市。學校離這個別具歷史性，同時也是藝術和商業中心的城市僅僅是幾分鍾的路程。作為美國的第五大城市，費城為本地居民和遊客提供各種各樣的文化體驗，其中包括費城合唱團、賓州芭蕾舞團、50多家博物館、美國最早的動物園等等。體育運動愛好者也可以觀看到精彩的球賽：籃球、棒球、美式足球和冰球。費城的四季分明，而且因為受到大西洋暖和氣候風的影響，費城的春天和秋天都有非常宜人的天氣。美國的鐵路系統Amtrak就在校園的旁邊，為想到紐約、華盛頓、波士頓旅行的同學帶來很大的方便。 |

| 賓州大學在1740年為弗蘭克林(Benjamin Franklin)所創立，是現今美國八所長春藤學校之一。 一共由4所學院和12所研究員和專業學院組成，其中的商業學院(Wharton) 是美國最早的學院。在2006 年的全美大學排行榜上，賓州大學在228所大學中名列第四名。美麗的校園內孕育著23,000多名學生（包括4,500名國際學生）和4,000多名教職人員，其中有11名曾獲得諾貝爾獎。校內的建築有現代的設計，也保留著部分具有19世紀風采的建築物。學生活躍於校內的250多個學生團體：學生電視台、廣播台、報社等等。 |

The ELP offers programs and courses to meet a wide variety of needs and purposes: general English, business English, English for academic preparation, and English for the professions. Students learn from a distinguished faculty with many years of teaching experience in the USA and abroad. Instructors use teaching methods that encourage students to use English for real situations outside the classroom. ELP students enjoy access to the academic and recreational facilities of the University of Pennsylvania, one of the oldest and most distinguished universities in the USA.
