: : About the ESL School

Founded in 1983, The Language Company (TLC) is a group of private language schools that has provided superior English instruction and cultural activities to more than 30,000 students from around the world. The various small-town locations of TLC schools within the picturesque American Midwest offer ideal learning environments for those students wanting to concentrate on their studies and learn in friendly, quiet and safe surroundings. The rigorous TLC curriculum is designed to significantly improve students' English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university, enhance their professional credentials or simply to enjoy learning a new language. An academic placement service is available free-of-charge for those students who want to attend an American college or university after completing their studies at TLC. Many colleges and universities waive the TOEFL requirement for TLC graduates. Outside of the classroom, special events and activities are organized by TLC staff to encourage students to practice their English while learning about American culture and making new friends. In the past, favorite activities include: horseback riding, visiting zoos and parks, sightseeing and shopping in the local area, visiting amusement and water parks, and attending seasonal festivals. Students are also encouraged to independently explore the area's vibrant neighborhoods or take day trips to see the surrounding areas. The Language Company is accredited by ACCET, the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training, and is a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.
: : Student Countries of Origin

Recently, the majority of students have come to the school from Asia, including Japan (15%), Korea (15%) and Taiwan(10%). Students are also from countries in Latin America (10%), Europe(15%), Middle East, Africa and others.

: : Faculty Qualifications

TLC instructors are highly-qualified, native speaking professionals that help their students advance through their programs quickly. Many instructors have lived and traveled abroad and have extensive training and experience teaching English to students from around the world. The personal and academic qualities of TLC instructors make each uniquely qualified to offer meaningful language-learning opportunities and to care deeply about their students.
: : Housing

The school provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. The school also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private, furnished off-campus apartments may also be available; the school will help students make the necessary arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.
: : Surrounding Area

The Boston English Institute sits on the lovely Fisher College campus in the stylish, upscale Back Bay neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. Known for its gracious brownstone buildings, bookstores, sidewalk caf駸 and fashionable boutiques lining historic Newbury Street, Back Bay is an ideal location for students as they will find themselves in the center of it all.
As the capital and largest city in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Boston is one of the most historic cities in the United States. Nicknamed the "City on a Hill" or most famously "Beantown," Boston was founded in 1630 by its original Native American inhabitants and is now home to an estimated 570,000 Bostonians. Widely recognized as being America's greatest college town, Boston is often called the Athens of America as it is dubbed the nation's educational capital that houses more than 60 colleges and universities in the area, creating an atmosphere rich with artistic, social and intellectual opportunities. Sports enthusiasts do not have a problem in finding a team to cheer for in Boston, a city home to dedicated fans that are serious about their sports teams, including the Boston Celtics (NBA basketball), the New England Patriots (NFL football), the Boston Bruins (NHL hockey), the New England Revolution (soccer) and the historic, much beloved 2004 World Series champions, the Boston Red Sox. There are countless opportunities for Boston residents to enjoy easy weekend getaways along the East Coast, whether it is to go sightseeing in Providence, New York City or Montr饌l, feast on lobster in Maine, hike New Hampshire's White Mountains or explore the magnificent beaches of Cape Cod.
: : About the College/University

Founded in 1903 as a girls-only business school, Fisher College is a two-year independent college located in on Beacon Street, steps from the Boston Public Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The school offers curricula that integrate a liberal education with career and pre-professional programs designed to meet the changing needs of both traditional and non-traditional learners. Through its degree level and certificate programs, Fisher College has endeavored to create a learning environment that fosters the intellectual growth of its students, promotes respect for self and others, and seeks to develop the inherent capacities of each individual student to prepare for a full, satisfying, and productive professional and cultural life.
