: : About the School

Founded in 1938, KAPLAN ASPECT is a group of prestigious private language schools that have helped millions of students from around the world significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university. The Centers are located among thirteen of the best-known cities in North America - including Vancouver, Canada - in order to offer independent students exposure to different cross-cultural ideas in vibrant urban environments that will deepen their English communication skills and cultural understanding. For those students interested in studying at an American college or university, KAPLAN ASPECT operates three of its centers on college campuses and offers students full access to campus facilities including the library, sports facilities and the computer center. Learning from native speaking instructors, students study from well-developed curriculums designed to develop their fluency and hone their skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. To help students achieve their individual academic goals, KAPLAN ASPECT centers also offer a variety of workshops to complement students' coursework, including: Vocabulary Development, Speech and Pronunciation, Writing, Accent Reduction and TOEFL Skills Preparation. KAPLAN ASPECT is the educational subsidiary of the major newspaper company, The Washington Post, and a sister division of the major magazine, Newsweek. KAPLAN ASPECT is also a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.

Students additionally come from Latin America (3%), Europe (16%), Africa, the Middle East and other countries worldwide.
: : Faculty Qualifications

The instructors are highly-qualified, native speaking professionals. Many instructors have lived and traveled abroad and have extensive training and experience teaching English to students from around the world. The personal and academic qualities of instructors make each uniquely qualified to offer meaningful language-learning opportunities and to care deeply about their students.
: : Housing

KAPLAN ASPECT provides students with the opportunity to live in off-campus residences or enjoy a homestay experience. For students who prefer a more independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the campus environment. These residences are conveniently located a short distance from the center. Homestays are also a living option for those students who want to experience the local culture as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments are also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.
: : Surrounding Area

The KAPLAN ASPECT center rests on the scenic edge of the American River and sits picturesquely adjacent to the California State University, Sacramento campus. With the center ideally located within a five-minute walk from the popular Arden Shopping Arcade and a short cab ride to downtown Sacramento, students have plenty of opportunities to enjoy this large city with small-town charm popularly known as the "City of Trees." As California's state capital since 1855, Sacramento is home to over 460,000 residents and offers a Mediterranean climate characterized by mild winters and dry summers. With average temperatures ranging from 46ーF (8ーC) in December to 76ーF (24ーC) in July, "Sacramentans" (people from Sacramento) enjoy year-round outdoor activities, especially water recreation. As a city bound by two rivers - the American and the Sacramento Rivers - many city residents enjoy salmon and steelhead fishing, river rafting and boating. All can be enjoyed on the 1,600 kilometers of waterways surrounding Sacramento. Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma are both located near downtown Sacramento and offer plenty of opportunities to go sailing and windsurfing. Sports enthusiasts will be quick to note the professional sports teams available in the area, including the Sacramento Kings NBA basketball team, the Sacramento Monarchs WNBA women's basketball team and the Sacramento River Cats, a Triple-A baseball team. Downtown Sacramento is located about 136km northeast from San Francisco - "America's Favorite City" celebrated for its beauty, mild climate and sophistication - and 217km southwest of Reno, Nevada, a city known for its rich, vibrant history and entertainment and famously dubbed "The Biggest Little City in the World."
