: About the ESL Program |

Established in 1980, the English and Certificates for Internationals (ECI) is dedicated to providing students with a diverse selection of educational opportunities to achieve success in today's competitive global business and academic environments. Learning from highly-qualified instructors, students study from a well-developed curriculum designed to expertly hone their English skills in order to succeed personally, professionally, or academically. To complement their studies, students may also select from a wide variety of elective classes to study topics pertinent to their individual interests, such as Idioms, Pronunciation, Vocabulary Building, American Film, and TOEFL Preparation. Outside of the classroom, students are encouraged to take part in many interesting trips organized by the ECI. In the past, students' favorite trips included city tours of Los Angeles and San Diego, touring the J. Paul Getty Museum of Art, cheering on the Los Angeles Lakers basketball or Anaheim Angels baseball teams, going snow skiing or attending beach parties, and trips to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Las Vegas, and Sea World. The ECI is a proud member of UCIEP, a U.S. consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs known for its high professional standards and quality English language instruction.

Faculty Qualifications |

| All instructors are highly-qualified, experienced professionals who are required to hold master's degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or in closely related academic fields. Each instructor has extensive international and domestic experience in teaching academic English as a Second Language to students from around the world. The personal and academic qualities of ECI instructors make each uniquely qualified to offer meaningful language-learning opportunities and to care deeply about their students. |

| ECI provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories, off-campus residences or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. On-campus dormitories are available during the summer only for those students attending the 10-week Intensive Program who are between the ages of 18 to 30 years old. For students who prefer a more independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the campus environment. ECI also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Check the Course Data Page to guarantee your preferred housing option is available for the course to which you will apply. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also be available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly. |
