Founded in 1961, ELS Language Centers is a group of private language schools that help millions of students from more than 140 countries significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university. With more than 40 ELS locations available across 25 U.S. states, students are exposed to different cross-cultural ideas and influences that will deepen their English communication skills and cultural understanding. Learning from native speaking instructors, students study from a well-developed curriculum designed to enhance their fluency and accuracy and hone their skills in the areas of structure/speaking, conversation, and reading/writing. Students also select from a wide variety of elective classes to study topics pertinent to their individual interests, including TOEFL Preparation, Business English, Pronunciation, U.S. Culture, and Listening & Note Taking. As an added feature, more than 550 American colleges and universities accept the ELS Certification of English in place of the TOEFL in order to admit students to their undergraduate degree programs. ELS Language Centers is a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.

| ELS provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. ELS also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly. |

| The ELS Language Center on the ISU campus is nestled in a residential neighborhood of Pocatello, Idaho, the state's second-largest community situated near the Utah and Wyoming borders. Home to 51,000 residents, Pocatello is a scenic, small and friendly city that sits at an elevation of 1,355 meters in the western foothills of the Rocky Mountains and along the Oregon Trail. Selected by Forbes.com as one of the "Top 10 Best Small Cities" in the U.S., Pocatello was founded as a vital stop on the first railroad in Idaho during the historic "Gold Rush" of the 1860s and later became an important center for agriculture. The city's name hails from Chief Pocatello, a chief of the Shoshoni Native American tribe who allowed Americans to build their railroad across the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. Situated in the middle of the most beautiful countryside in the United States, Pocatello's location affords its residents the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors year-round with its unusually desirable four-season climate where clear, sunny and dry is the norm. Many take to the mountains to go hiking, mountain biking and camping while others visit nearby lakes to go swimming, canoeing or fly fishing for wild trout. Winter in Idaho is magical with its sunny blue skies, crisp mountain air and feather-light snow - perfect to hit the ski slopes. A two-hour drive from downtown Pocatello will take you to the doorstep of world-class ski and mountain resorts - including Sun Valley and Jackson Hole, stunning vacation spots, most notably being Yellowstone National Park and Bear Lake, and historic, picturesque Salt Lake City. |

Because of ISU's unique location and character, the university serves a diverse population that includes traditional and nontraditional-age students, working professionals and senior citizens. The 972-acre picturesque campus is located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and is home to over 13,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students from 37 U.S. states and 49 nations from around the world. ISU offers its students the opportunity to earn bachelor's degrees in more than 60 areas of specialization, master's degrees in 36 areas and 12 doctoral degrees among the school's eight academic schools and colleges: Arts and Sciences; Business; Education; Engineering; Health Professions; Pharmacy; Technology; and the School of Graduate Studies. Established as a national center for Doctor of Arts degree programs, ISU's programs in education, business and engineering respond to the variety of current and emerging demands in the professional world. Outside of the classroom, students have ample opportunities to get involved in the campus community and join one of the 120 student-run organizations. Students are avid fans of ISU sports teams, "The Bengals," and are always on-hand to cheer on the men's and women's teams playing football, basketball, cross-country, golf, tennis, track, soccer, softball and volleyball. |
