Founded in 1961, ELS Language Centers is a group of private language schools that help millions of students from more than 140 countries significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university. With more than 40 ELS locations available across 25 U.S. states, students are exposed to different cross-cultural ideas and influences that will deepen their English communication skills and cultural understanding. Learning from native speaking instructors, students study from a well-developed curriculum designed to enhance their fluency and accuracy and hone their skills in the areas of structure/speaking, conversation, and reading/writing. Students also select from a wide variety of elective classes to study topics pertinent to their individual interests, including TOEFL Preparation, Business English, Pronunciation, U.S. Culture, and Listening & Note Taking. As an added feature, more than 550 American colleges and universities accept the ELS Certification of English in place of the TOEFL in order to admit students to their undergraduate degree programs. ELS Language Centers is a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.

| ELS provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. ELS also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly. |

| The ELS Language Center on the Tech campus is located in the small north-central Louisiana town of Ruston, a friendly, close-knit town that exudes classic Southern charm and home to 23,000 residents. As the host of the state's annual Peach Festival, Ruston is an intimate community where students and residents easily intermingle either to enjoy popular local eateries or actively work together in cooperative projects between the university and local businesses and civic organizations. The larger communities of Monroe and Shreveport, Louisiana are each respectively a 41km and 110km drive from downtown Ruston and offer a wider range of dining, shopping and entertainment options. Home to more than 53,000 residents, Monroe is a charming Southern city that sits on the Ouachita River and is famous for its Biedenharn Museum and Gardens. Nearby Shreveport is the third-largest metropolitan city in Louisiana and is the commercial and cultural center of the "Ark-La-Tex," the area where the states of Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. Called the "Gateway to East Texas," Shreveport is a busy metro city that boasts an array of riverboat casinos and, most notably, the world's largest rose garden appropriately called The National Rose Garden. The unique city of New Orleans is an easy 5-hour drive from downtown Ruston. Famously known as the "Crescent City" due to its location on the great bend of the Mississippi River, New Orleans has a rich history dating as far back as 1718. |
