Founded in 1961, ELS Language Centers is a group of private language schools that help millions of students from more than 140 countries significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university. With more than 40 ELS locations available across 25 U.S. states, students are exposed to different cross-cultural ideas and influences that will deepen their English communication skills and cultural understanding. Learning from native speaking instructors, students study from a well-developed curriculum designed to enhance their fluency and accuracy and hone their skills in the areas of structure/speaking, conversation, and reading/writing. Students also select from a wide variety of elective classes to study topics pertinent to their individual interests, including TOEFL Preparation, Business English, Pronunciation, U.S. Culture, and Listening & Note Taking. As an added feature, more than 550 American colleges and universities accept the ELS Certification of English in place of the TOEFL in order to admit students to their undergraduate degree programs. ELS Language Centers is a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.

Recently, the majority of students have come to ELS from Asia, including Korea (35%), Taiwan (34%) and Japan (12%). Students also come from countries in Latin America (8%), Europe (4%) and other countries worldwide.

ELS instructors are highly-qualified, native speaking professionals. Many instructors have lived and traveled abroad and have extensive training and experience teaching English to students from around the world. The personal and academic qualities of ELS instructors make each uniquely qualified to offer meaningful language-learning opportunities and to care deeply about their students.

| ELS provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. ELS also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. | The ELS Language Center - on the 68-acre, beautifully-landscaped Oklahoma City University campus - is located in vibrant Oklahoma City, the ultimate renaissance town that acts at the State Capitol and home to half a million people in the metropolitan area. Located in the American Southwest, Oklahoma City's "Western" heritage and spirit is alive and well with many Oklahomans likely to be wearing boots and cowboy hats in the city streets while downtown's business professionals retain the suit-and-tie look. With such popular local attractions as being the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum (a national memorial to the American cowboy), the Remington Park Race Track, Frontier City Theme Park and the Red Earth Indian Center, the inherent essence of Oklahoma City is strongly rooted in its strong ties with its historic Western heritage. Known as the "horse show capitol of the world," Oklahoma City hosts more major horse shows than any other city worldwide. Nearly every week at Remington Park fairgrounds, hundreds of horse trailers arrive carrying such stunning breeds of horses as Morgans, Quarter horses, Arabians and Reining horses. If it is a more cultural outing visitors seek, Oklahoma City boasts such options as the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Oklahoma and Broadway shows at the Lyric Theatre, Civic Center Music Hall and the Rose State Auditorium. Sports enthusiasts have plenty of opportunities to play on some of the nation's best golf courses and tennis facilities while sports fans can watch live games year-round by taking in an Oklahoma RedHawks baseball game or a Blazers hockey game. |
