Founded in 1961, ELS Language Centers is a group of private language schools that help millions of students from more than 140 countries significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university. With more than 40 ELS locations available across 25 U.S. states, students are exposed to different cross-cultural ideas and influences that will deepen their English communication skills and cultural understanding. Learning from native speaking instructors, students study from a well-developed curriculum designed to enhance their fluency and accuracy and hone their skills in the areas of structure/speaking, conversation, and reading/writing. Students also select from a wide variety of elective classes to study topics pertinent to their individual interests, including TOEFL Preparation, Business English, Pronunciation, U.S. Culture, and Listening & Note Taking. As an added feature, more than 550 American colleges and universities accept the ELS Certification of English in place of the TOEFL in order to admit students to their undergraduate degree programs. ELS Language Centers is a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.

Faculty Qualifications |

| ELS instructors are highly-qualified, native speaking professionals. Many instructors have lived and traveled abroad and have extensive training and experience teaching English to students from around the world. The personal and academic qualities of ELS instructors make each uniquely qualified to offer meaningful language-learning opportunities and to care deeply about their students. |

| ELS provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. ELS also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly. |

| The ELS Language Center on the Case Western Reserve University campus is nestled in the charming neighborhood of University Circle, a 550-acre, park-like area including nearly fifty cultural, medical, educational, religious, and social service institutions located on the eastern edge of the cosmopolitan city of Cleveland, Ohio. Deemed the largest institution in the University Circle community, the Case campus neighbors such world-famous institutions as Severance Hall, home to the distinguished Cleveland Orchestra; the Cleveland Museum of Art, housing some of the finest collections in the United States; the Cleveland Institute of Music; the Cleveland Institute of Art; the Cleveland Botanical Garden; and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. If it is a more urban environment you seek, downtown Cleveland is a quick 10-minute ride on the RTA rapid public transportation service. Home to over 2 million residents, Cleveland, frequently called "The New American City," is the headquarters for many of the nation's major corporations; it is also a leading banking center with the Fourth District Federal Reserve Bank, one of only twelve in the United States, located in the downtown area. In fact, Fortune magazine recently ranked Cleveland as one of the ten best cities for business in North America. Situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie, Cleveland is often cited as a model for urban rebirth and was named among the top 10 international visitor hotspots by Travel and Leisure magazine. Boasting world-class institutions, unique ethnic neighborhoods, the world's only Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and major league sports teams including the Browns (football), the Cavaliers (basketball), and the Cleveland Indians (baseball), it is guaranteed there is something for everyone in Cleveland. |

About the College/University |

| First founded in 1826 as Western Reserve College, the institution was renamed Case Western Reserve University in 1967 after uniting Western Reserve College with its neighboring Case School of Applied Science. Home to over 2,300 faculty members and 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students, Case offers its undergraduate students more than 60 major fields of study and a host of minors through its four colleges: College of Arts and Sciences; Case School of Engineering; Weatherhead School of Management; and the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. Students studying at the graduate and doctorate levels can earn their Masters and PhD degrees in the areas of applied social sciences, dental medicine, graduate studies, law, management, medicine, and nursing. Case additionally offers its students the unique option to consolidate their studies and enroll into a five-year program to earn Bachelor of Arts/Master of Arts or Bachelor of Science/Master of Science degrees; dual admission is also available for students to first earn their undergraduate degree and then, enter the Case dental, law or medical schools. When students are not in class, many join one of the over 150 on-campus student-run organizations, including 33 academic groups, 23 international and cultural organizations, 18 fraternities and sororities, 16 athletic clubs, 12 religious groups, 9 theater, music and performance organizations, and 8 media groups. As big fans of the university's men and women sports teams, "The Spartans," students are also sure to be present to cheer their team on as they play football, softball, soccer, golf, cross-country, track and field, swimming, and wrestling. |
