Founded in 1961, ELS Language Centers is a group of private language schools that help millions of students from more than 140 countries significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university. With more than 40 ELS locations available across 25 U.S. states, students are exposed to different cross-cultural ideas and influences that will deepen their English communication skills and cultural understanding. Learning from native speaking instructors, students study from a well-developed curriculum designed to enhance their fluency and accuracy and hone their skills in the areas of structure/speaking, conversation, and reading/writing. Students also select from a wide variety of elective classes to study topics pertinent to their individual interests, including TOEFL Preparation, Business English, Pronunciation, U.S. Culture, and Listening & Note Taking. As an added feature, more than 550 American colleges and universities accept the ELS Certification of English in place of the TOEFL in order to admit students to their undergraduate degree programs. ELS Language Centers is a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.

| ELS provides students with the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories or enjoy a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. ELS also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly. |

About the College/University |

| First established in 1901 as the all-women's Saint Clara College, later named Rosary College, the university became coeducational in 1970 and was officially re-named Dominican University (DU) in 1996. Renowned for its relationship-centered educational community rooted in the liberal arts and sciences, DU's ongoing success and distinction stems from its exploration and expression of its Catholic Dominican identity and mission. The wooded 30-acre campus dotted by lovely ivy-covered Gothic buildings is home to 3,200 undergraduate and graduate students from 24 U.S. states and 18 nations from around the world. DU undergraduate students are offered over 50 major fields of study through the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences with most popular majors being art history, business administration, communication arts and sciences, English, international relations and diplomacy, and secondary education. Students studying at the graduate level earn their advanced degrees through DU's four graduate schools: Business, Education, Library and International Science, and Social Work. Approximately 50% of the corporate librarians or information specialists in the Chicago area are Dominican University graduates. When students are not in class, many join one of the over 30 on-campus organizations, including dance and theater troupes, poetry and literary groups, student government, honor societies, professional organizations, international and cultural groups, or writing for the Dominican Star Student Newspaper. In the spirit of DU's Catholic Dominican tradition, University Ministry has a large presence on-campus and welcomes people of all religious traditions and cultures to explore and enliven their spirituality and faith. |
