: About the ESL Program |

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program was established in 1991 to provide students with outstanding language instruction and orientation to life in the United States. ESL Program students attend four classes each semester including Speaking & Listening, Reading, Writing, and Structure, in order to develop their skills essential to enter and to succeed at North Park University or at other equally prestigious American colleges or universities. Students who complete the Program's advanced level fulfill the University's undergraduate foreign language requirement and may be admitted to the University without a TOEFL score. ESL Program students gain full access to North Park University's campus facilities and activities including theater, dance and music performances, student associations and clubs, the library, computer labs with Internet access, the dining hall, and the state-of-the-art fitness center. The ESL Program is a proud member of AAIEP, the American Association of Intensive English Programs promoting professional standards and high-quality English programs.

| Students who complete the advanced level fulfill North Park University's foreign language requirement and may apply up to eight credit hours towards their undergraduate degree. |

Faculty Qualifications |

| ESL Program instructors are highly-qualified, caring, experienced professionals. Each instructor holds at least a master's degree in Applied Linguistics, Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) or in a related field while some have completed PhDs. ESL Program faculty members are teachers, mentors, and friends to their students and are sensitive to their needs by offering assistance in helping them adapt to the American culture. |

| While attending the ESL Program, students are encouraged to live in on-campus dormitories. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities, and other students - both American and international. Students are encouraged to arrange housing as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. The ESL Program may introduce private off-campus apartments, however it is the students' responsibility to make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly. |

Welcome to Chicago! We would like to invite you to study English at North Park University. Our campus is located in a residential neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, a vibrant, world-class city known for its multinational businesses, vast educational resources, and multiple ethnic communities. Our ESL Program is designed to prepare students from many countries for the rigors of undergraduate and graduate studies in American colleges and universities.
