The Business Case Program
: : About the ESL Program

The English Language Center (ELC) is part of Northeastern University, one of the largest private universities in the United States. It offers specially designed courses for students who wish to live and study in Boston. The ELC attracts students from all over the world to its programs: the Intensive English Program, the Pre-MBA Program, and the Business Language Skills Case Program. ELC students enjoy access to all of the university's facilities including a Media Center with modern listening, video, and computer labs. Conversation partners for out-of-classroom practice, cultural activities through the International Student and Scholar Institute, and a variety of elective classes add to the learning experience of studying at the ELC. The ELC is a proud member of UCIEP, a U.S. consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs known for its high professional standards and quality English language instruction.
: : Credit Courses

Qualified students at advanced levels of English may take one course at the University for credit.
: : Student Countries of Origin

The English Language Center student body is very diverse. Approximately 25% of students are from Asian countries, 25% are from South America, 25% from Arab countries, 10% are from Africa, and15% are from Europe.
: : Faculty Qualifications

All ELC instructors are experienced professionals. All have Master's degrees in TESOL or a related field. Many have specialized teaching experience in ESL and other fields, such as business or computers.
: : Housing

The ELC provides homestay information throughout the year and on-campus housing in dormitories during the summer session. Students who choose the homestay option will live together with carefully selected host families, with whom they will have plentiful opportunities to interact in English while directly experiencing the local culture. Students living in on-campus dormitories will be close to classes, campus activities, and other students - both American and international. It is best to arrange housing as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. The school also provides information regarding off-campus apartments, but students have to make the necessary arrangements by themselves. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.
: : Surrounding Area

The ELC is located on the main campus of Northeastern University, in the Back Bay section of Boston. Boston is renowned for its beauty and historical significance, as well as being the site of over 60 educational institutions, which attract students from around the word. Northeastern University faces popular Huntington Avenue, which has recently been dubbed "Avenue of the Arts," as it is host to many of the city's cultural institutions: the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stuart Gardener Museum, and Symphony Hall are among its neighbors. Students can also enjoy the popular cafes, world-famous shopping, and entertainment attractions of nearby Copley Place and Newbury Street. Boston has a very convenient transportation system that students can use for sightseeing. Outside of Boston students can also visit places like exciting New York City and the capital of the United States, Washington, D.C. within a days traveling distance.
: : About the College/University

Northeastern University is one of the largest private universities in the United States. It has all the qualities of a traditional college campus: grassy quads, tree-lined walkways, wooden benches for studying and socializing. Undergraduates from all 50 states and 113 countries call Northeastern home. In this dynamic international environment students will discover new cultures and perspectives while making lifelong friends. Northeastern is famous for the five-year co-op program, in which students gain work experience before graduation by combining professional experience with study in liberal arts and sciences. It includes eight undergraduate colleges and nine graduate schools.
