Intensive English Program
: : About the ESL Program

Established in 1977, the Center for English Language Training (CELT) is an academic unit within Indiana University that provides high caliber instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL), Applied Linguistics and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). As a division of CELT, the Intensive English Program (IEP) is designed to provide non-native English speakers with the academic and language skills essential to succeed at an American university. Students can take a break from their studies and participate in regular trips and activities organized by the IEP to visit nearby zoos and museums, King's Island Amusement Park, fairs, concerts and trips to Chicago. Students have full access to the University's libraries, sports facilities and computer laboratories and are encouraged to join University clubs and activities. The Center for English Language Training is a proud member of UCIEP, a U.S. consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs known for its high professional standards and quality English language instruction.
: : Credit Courses

Students in the advanced-levels (Levels 6 and 7) are eligible to enroll in regular courses at the University. These courses often are accepted for credit towards a degree.

: : Faculty Qualifications

Intensive English Program instructors are highly-qualified professionals who have extensive experience teaching English in the United States and abroad. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. Hello from Indiana!
Welcome to the Intensive English Program (IEP) at Indiana University profile on ApplyESL.com! I'm delighted to have the opportunity to tell you about our program, where I have been the Director for the past 23 years. In fact, most of our staff have been with us for many years, in part because Bloomington is such a wonderful place to live - we have world-class opera, international cuisine, Broadway shows, and a mild climate in a small, safe, Midwestern town. Our students have access to all the benefits Indiana University has to offer, including an outstanding library system and the number-one ranked computer facilities in the United States! We teach English in small classes, so you get to know your teachers and other students well. Also, I meet individually with each student at least once each session - we very much want to get to know you and help you to learn and enjoy your experiences here. We would love to welcome you to our IEP family here in Bloomington!
