This is a 4-week (1 session) long program. It provides 25 hours per week of instruction. Students select their own course length when registering at the beginning of each new session.
The program offers six levels of instruction from intermediate to Advanced. Placement in these levels depends upon the results of a Placement Test and Intake Assessment (oral interview) which will be taken on the first day of class. To enroll in this program, students have to be placed in high-intermediate to advanced level of English, have attained a 450 TOEFL score or have equivalent abilities.
This program is for students who would like to improve their TOEFL score and who are interested in a college style class that will prepare them for further studies at the college or university level. Students who have an official test score of 450/133 can be accepted into the program without writing the Entrance Exam.
Students are prepared for the main components of the TOEFL exam, listening comprehension, Grammar and written expression, plus vocabulary building. The course also covers test-writing strategies with frequent practice examinations. The program includes academic readings, essay-writing and seminar-style discussions. Thematic units are based on courses that students will encounter at college or university as well as subjects that are of interest to students of high ability levels.
Class sizes generally range from 10 to 14 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction. |
