Intensive 30 Program
Standard 20 Program

The Intensive 30 Program is offered throughout the year in 4-, 8- and 12-week sessions. Students enrolled in the program receive 30 lessons per week. The Intensive 30 Program is ideal for those students who wish to study intensively and develop well-rounded insight in to the English language and the American culture.

The program is offered at 6 levels of instruction from beginner to advanced. Upon their arrival at LSI, students are given a written test and an interview to ensure their proper placement in an ability level. At the end of their session, students are awarded a certificate of completion as proof of their language competence.

The program's curriculum concentrates on all the skill areas students require to achieve greater fluency in a short period of time. Students attend a total of six lessons every day, Monday through Friday. The morning classes focus on improving students' grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, as well as concentrating to develop students' speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Afternoon classes draw upon the skills learned during the morning classes through fluency practice and a comprehensive review of the American culture and customs. Topics of these afternoon classes may include: film and theater, media studies, current events, politics, local culture and research using the Internet.

As an added service, LSI offers academic counseling to those students planning to enroll in a college or university following their studies at LSI. Academic advisors offer students advice as to which undergraduate courses to choose and the TOEFL score requirements, as well as arrange visits to universities and assist in completing university applications. LSI students have been placed in such esteemed universities as: San Francisco State University, Art Institute of California, Golden Gate University and Notre Dame de Nemour University.

Classroom sizes average 10 students per class with a maximum of 14 students. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.
