Intensive English Program
Semi-Intensive English Program

The Semi-Intensive English Program is offered year-round with sessions beginning every week. Students enrolled in the program receive 20 hours of classroom instruction per week. This program is ideal for those students who want to achieve maximum progress in their English skills with the limited time they have available and still have time for extracurricular activities.

The program is offered at 10 levels of instruction from beginning to advanced. Upon their arrival at the center, students are given a placement exam consisting of a grammar test, a writing sample and an interview to ensure proper placement into an ability level. At the end of the session, students' skills and progress are evaluated by their teachers and, depending on their test results, homework assignments and class participation, students may advance to the next level.

Intensive English Program classes are held Monday through Friday. The program's curriculum is primarily designed to cover all the fundamental language skill areas: grammar, vocabulary, conversation, pronunciation, listening comprehension, reading and writing. Elective courses are also part of the curriculum for students to focus their English studies while building their core language skills. For those students interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree program in the U.S., the ELC provides free College Counseling and University Placement services to help students select a college and coach them throughout the application process.

Outside of the classroom, the ELC organizes plenty of opportunities for students to practice their English in a natural environment, including visiting world-class museums and art galleries, going on university/college campus tours or weekend trips to famous tourist destinations. Students independently participate in local year-round festivals held throughout the city, attend professional sports games or go sightseeing to explore some of the city's vibrant, eclectic neighborhoods.

Classroom sizes average 10 students per class with a maximum of 12 students. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.
