The Conversation & American Culture Program offers 3-week sessions throughout the year. Students enrolled in the Program receive 15 hours of in-class instruction per week; students may receive an additional 5 hours of instruction per week by attending extra activities.
The Program offers 6 levels of English classes, from beginning to advanced. On registration day, students are given an English proficiency test to help determine the level best-suited to their ability. The Program's curriculum is designed for students who have only a short period of time for language study, who want to combine their studies with trips to visit popular attractions in Southern California, or for those looking to improve their speaking and listening skills. Students in all levels of instruction study topics including American Culture and Idioms, Functions of American English, Listening, and Speaking. Other related activities may include watching American movies, creating special projects, or visiting local places of interest from museums, concerts, musicals and sporting events to trips to Los Angeles, Universal Studios and Hollywood.
The average class size is 12 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction. |
