The Intensive English Communication Program (IECP) is offered in 4-week sessions throughout the academic year. Students enrolled in the program receive approximately 20 hours of classroom instruction each week.
The program is offered at 3 levels of difficulty: basic, intermediate and advanced. Placement in these levels is determined by the results of a Placement Test and an Interview students take upon their arrival at the ALC.
The IECP is designed for students and professionals who are looking to acquire practical, effective communication skills for personal or professional enrichment. Each week - Monday through Thursday - all students receive challenging instruction by attending "Topic Classes" in the mornings and "Core Classes" in the afternoons.
In Topic Classes, students have the option to choose from a variety of subjects pertinent to their interests to study such topics as: Advertising; Communications; Business Communications; Current Issues; Grammar Review; TOEFL Preparation; and TV and the Media. Core Classes focus on improving students' listening and speaking skills through pair work, group work, communicative games and video/computer-based instruction.
Class sizes generally range from 12 to 16 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction. |
