Intensive English Program
The Business Case Program

The Intensive English Program offers 8-week sessions throughout the academic year and a 15-week session during the fall semester. Students enrolled in the Program during the academic year receive 20 hours per week of in-class instruction. Students attending the summer sessions receive 16 hours of instruction per week.

The Program offers 5 levels of English classes, from beginning to advanced. At the beginning of each session, students take a written and oral examination to help determine the level best-suited to their ability.

The Program's well-developed curriculum is designed to prepare students for future academic and professional success, providing instruction that focuses on developing students' grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. One of the Program's aims is to increase students' accuracy and fluency in communication through extensive small group practice, homework assignments and additional projects in the listening and video labs. Elective courses are also available to students to study the areas of Business Reading and Listening, Speaking, and Pronunciation. Qualified students in the advanced-level are eligible to take one course at Northeastern's University College for university credit.

Class sizes generally range from 8 to 15 students. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.
