Intensive Program
Super-Intensive Program

The Intensive Program operates on a semester system and offers two 12-week sessions per year beginning in September and January. Intensive Program classes are also available to students in 12-, 9-, 6- and 4-week sessions during the summer. Students receive 20 hours of English language instruction per week.

The Program offers 8 levels of English classes, from beginning to advanced. Students attending the Program are required to study a particular area of the English language by selecting a concentration. Students' chosen concentrations are approved after they arrive at CELOP and take an English assessment test to help determine their ability level. Beginning to Intermediate-level students are placed in the Foundations in English concentration to help improve students' English listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary skills. Students with high-intermediate or above English language skills can select one of the following concentrations to study during the September and January semesters: English Language and Culture, English for Academic Purposes, International Business English, and English for Science and Technology. During the summer sessions, students can choose to study concentrations such as English Language and Culture, English for Academic Purposes or International Business English (the summer 12-week session only). The Program's summer sessions also offer concentrations in Legal English and English for Media and Communication Studies.

During the September and January semesters, students attend 15 hours per week of daily classes within their concentration and 5 hours per week attending one elective class. During the 12, 9 and 6-week summer sessions, students also study within their concentration and attend one elective class. The 4-week summer session curriculum consists of 20 hours per week of daily classes within students' concentrations. CELOP offers a wide variety of elective classes, allowing students to study areas such as TOEFL Preparation, Legal English, Business Communication, English Pronunciation/Listening and Speaking, Reading and Writing, and American Culture through Movies.

Class sizes generally range from 12 to 15 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.
