The ELI was the first four-year university program to achieve full CEA accreditation in the state of Missouri. ELI’s mission is to provide dynamic English language instruction and cultural programming for students who want to succeed in an American university, develop career language skills, or to meet their personal goals.

Outside the classroom, the ELI offers a Conversation Partner Program that matches a US student with an international student each semester. English Café is a popular weekly social group where American and international students talk, play games, and learn about each other’s cultures. ELI Voyagers is a program where new international students can attend UCM activities together with more experienced students. The ELI is committed to helping students feel that UCM is home. These groups provide just a part of the cultural programming available.
