  • Housing
  • While attending the ELP, students have the option to live in on-campus dormitories. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities, and other students – both American and international. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as soon as possible due to the limited amount of space available. The school may provide information about private off-campus apartments; however, it is the students’ responsibility to make their own arrangements.   • The English Language Program (ELP) is housed on the campus of Rowan University and is close to Philadelphia (10 minutes), New York City (one hour), Washington D.C. (two hours) as well as the Jersey shore, Pennsylvania Dutch country, and the Pocono Mountains offering points of interest and year-round entertainment.   • Overview
  • The ELP has five levels ranging from beginning to advanced. Students in level one begin their studies with a focus on basic communication. As they work their way through the levels, the focus turns toward academic language and culture. In the higher levels, students will also have a chance to take oral presentation skills in preparation for the university classroom, which has a high expectation on doing presentations.
    
    Classes include practice in the four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students can expect to do whole class activities as well as individual and group presentations. Most classes are project-based with specific immediate and long-term goals, objectives, learning outcomes, and assessments. Field trips to nearby points of attraction round out the curriculum.
    
    Successful completion of Rowan’s ELP and exit test will allow for matriculation into the university.
