- About the ESL School
- Founded in 1961, ELS Language Centers is a group of private language schools that help millions of students from more than 140 countries significantly improve their English skills in the shortest time possible and prepare them for academic study at an American college or university. - Student Countries of Origin
- The ELS Center at Middle Tennessee State University has hosted hundreds of students from around the world. Recently, the majority of students have come to ELS from Saudi Arabia (40%), Korea (25%) and China(15%). Students also come from countries in Latin America, Europe and other countries worldwide.
- Faculty Qualifications
- ELS instructors are highly-qualified, native speaking professionals. Many instructors have lived and traveled abroad and have extensive training and experience teaching English to students from around the world. The personal and academic qualities of ELS instructors make each uniquely qualified to offer meaningful language-learning opportunities and to care deeply about their students.
- Housing
- ELS provides students with the opportunity to live in an off-campus residence or enjoy a homestay experience. For students who prefer a more independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the campus environment. ELS also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.
- Surrounding Area
- The ELS Language Center at Middle Tennessee State University, is just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, the friendly State Capitol nicknamed “Music City, USA” for its musical heritage and distinctive Nashville sound. Offering a rare combination of big-city charisma with small-town charm, Nashville is home to over 560,000 residents and, most notably, to the Grand Ole Opry (the famous weekly Saturday night country music radio program broadcast live), the Country Music Hall of Fame and countless major record labels. Nashville is so synonymous with country music that each year, the Country Music Association’s Fan Fair (later renamed the CMA Music Festival) draws thousands of country music fans to the city. Named one of the 15 best American cities for work and family by Fortune Magazine, Nashville is often referred to as the “Athens of the South” for its classical architecture and educational institutions; 16 colleges and universities are located in the metropolitan area alone. Glorious Centennial Park is located three kilometers west of the downtown area and provides residents with a quiet, green, lush environment to relax in, to enjoy the serene view of the park’s Lake Watauga or, most famously, to explore the art gallery located in the park’s The Parthenon – a full-scale replica of the original Greek Parthenon. “Nashvillians” – residents of the city – typically enjoy a mild, pleasant climate with only a few days out of the year yielding either very hot or very cold temperatures.
- About the College/University
