    • About the ESL Program
    • The Texas University Pathway program is designed to prepare university-bound international students for admission and academic success at Texas universities. The program is offered throughout the year, in the format of five 7-week sessions, for students with intermediate and advanced English proficiency. Each session, students receive 22-28 hours of instruction including 12 hours per week of intensive English learning, 2-8 hours per week of customized supplemental learning, and 6 hours per week of language lab activities. Program features include opportunities to audit university classes, online TOEFL preparation, guidance on navigating the university application process, internship and volunteer opportunities, student support services, advisor-guided student action plan, instructional materials, and more. TIEP offers an attractive Monday-Thursday class schedule with class activities designed to expose students to real world applications and American culture. TIEP is a proud member of EnglishUSA-the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP) and is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA).

      Thank you for your interest in the Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP), a division of the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC). We offer two courses, Texas University Pathway (T-UP) and ACCESS, both suitable for F-1 visa and I-20 eligible.

      Our ACCESS program provides 12 hours of leveled intensive ESL courses in the morning combined with 6 hours of flexible language lab hours weekly, in a student-centered environment that provides varied, authentic, meaning-focused tasks to help you meet your academic, business, or communicative goals.

      Our proven Texas University Pathway program combines morning courses and lab with supplemental afternoon electives customized to your needs, be it TOEFL or GRE preparation, individual or small group tutoring, or chances to audit university courses or take online classes with a dedicated instructor. We are proud that 85% of students completing the program matriculate into four-year colleges and universities. Students who enroll in this program have the opportunity to progress quickly through ESL and test preparation courses designed to improve college skills and ensure success.

    • TIEP has welcomed more than 30,000 students from 131 countries around the world to experience life in the United States and concentrate on studying English. In recent years, students from an average of 25 countries have studied at TIEP each semester, including students from Asia (47%), the Middle East (34%), Latin America (14%), Africa (2%), and Europe (3%).
    • Faculty Qualifications
    • TIEP instructors are dedicated, experienced professionals. Each instructor holds either a master’s or doctoral degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), foreign language education or in related fields. Many TIEP instructors have lived and taught overseas and, on average, have fifteen years of extensive experience teaching English to students from around the world. The personal and academic qualities of all TIEP instructors make each uniquely qualified to offer meaningful language-learning opportunities and to be sympathetic to the issues important to international students.

    • While attending TIEP, students have the option to live in a variety of off-campus residences, including dormitories, apartments, homestays, or cooperatives. Students are encouraged to arrange housing as early as possible. TIEP may refer students to private off-campus apartments; however, it is the students’ responsibility to make their own arrangements.     • Conditional Admission to college and university partners is available for qualified students who successfully complete the university pathway program. TOEFL waivers to more than 20 universities are also available to students who qualify.     • About This Course
    • The curriculum is designed to develop English language skills essential to succeed in an academic environment, enhance students’ vocabulary, presentation skills, and research and essay writing abilities. During the program, students will have the opportunity to earn university credits. All levels of instruction emphasize speaking and listening and also practice reading and writing appropriate in academic, social, and professional settings. The program cost includes tuition, books, health insurance, gym membership, tutoring hours, field trips, student activities, support services, personalized academic advising, and university application guidance.

    • From Austin-Bergstrom International Airport:
      School provides airport pick-up service that costs US$90 and brings students directly to campus. Students are required to request airport pick-up service prior to departing their home country. Taxis are also available at the airport. It will cost approximately US$25 and will arrive on campus in 20 minutes.
