  • Founded in 1991, EC (formerly named European Centre of English Language Studies) is a group of private English language schools committed to providing the highest quality English language training experience. Originally known as one of the oldest private English language schools in Malta, EC has since grown rapidly over the past years and has established a high reputation for excellence in language training.   • The school provides students with the opportunity to live in off-campus residences or enjoy a homestay experience. For students who prefer an independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the school environment. The school also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience local culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available.   • With exciting destinations including Chinatown, Wall Street, and the United Nations being a short walk or subway ride from campus, students will appreciate EC, New York's centralized and easily accessible location in Times Square. New York City’s subway and bus lines run past campus and offers easy transportation to Manhattan’s eclectic neighborhoods – feel the energy that is Times Square, stroll through serene Central Park, explore the charm of Greenwich Village, and shop among the classic 5th Avenue stores.   • Overview
  • The Intensive English Course is offered year-round. Students enrolled in the program receive 30 in-class lessons (22.5 hours) per week. The program is the most comprehensive and popular course at school and enables each student’s all round skills to develop in the morning, with a particular focus on areas to improve or special interests in the afternoon.
    
    This program assists students at any ability level in developing English language skills, general communication skills, and building confidence when speaking. Instruction focuses on grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening. Each week, academic objectives are planned in advance and discussed with the students.
    
    The program is offered with 6 levels of instruction from beginner to advanced. When students arrive at the school, they are given a comprehensive placement test to evaluate their grammar, listening, speaking and writing skills and guarantee their proper placement into an ability level. Outside of the classroom, students are encouraged to independently explore the local areas of interest and experience the city’s vibrant, eclectic neighborhoods to gain real, practical insight into the culture of the city. Many students participate in school-organized events, as well, and enjoy the local entertainment and leisure activities.
    
    Classroom sizes range from 6 to 14 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.

  • Academic Semester/Year - Intensive

  • Overview
  • The Academic Year Program is offered year-round with starting dates every Monday. Students enrolled in the program study for a minimum of 24 weeks and may study at multiple centers for at least 12 weeks per center. Each student receives 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week. The Academic Year Program is most suitable for students who are interested in studying abroad long-term or are considering study in a university degree program. The course allows students to focus on improving all-around English fluency and open unlimited opportunities for their future.
    
    During the Academic Year Program students will be able to substantially develop their English language and General Communication skills, and build confidence when speaking. Instruction focuses on all skills including grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening. The highest level of monitoring, supervision, feedback and assessment is provided through weekly tutorials, homework and regular level tests. As an additional service specifically for Academic Year Program students, the school has a special Academic Year Coordinator who students will meet regularly for assistance.
    
    The program is offered to all students with English levels from Beginner to Advanced. When students arrive at the school, they are given a comprehensive placement test to evaluate their overall English skills and guarantee placement into an appropriate ability level. Each student receives a Personal Language Portfolio which includes a report of progress, records of progress tests, descriptions of personal learning methods and examples of work. Upon reaching the Intermediate level, students have the additional option to choose between two separate learning tracks; English for Work & Life and English for University. Students also may take a recognized exam such as TOEFL or IELTS as part of their course.
    Outside of the classroom, students are strongly encouraged to explore personal areas of interest and experience the country they live in to gain real, practical insight into the culture as well as the language. Many students participate in school-organized events, as well, and enjoy the local entertainment and leisure activities.
    Classroom sizes range from 10 to 14 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective long-term English language learning.

    Airport pick-up service is available for homestay students only. This service costs US$130 and it will take students directly to their homestay. For other students, it is their responsibility to arrange transportation from the airport to campus.     Small Group Classes
    

    I definitely recommend EC New York because there are very expert teachers and I had a very good time with them. The groups are small and the teacher can pay attention to you easily. They have a different way to teach English that is fun and quick. I also like all the different activities that you can do in just a day. There are so many things to do and time flies in New York! There are a lot of nationalities and you can meet people from all around the world at EC New York.

    I chose New York because I had always wanted to live in one of the most inspiring and exciting cities in the world. The city is amazing not only for its famous landmarks, but also for its diversity, architecture, natural beauty and culture. You can find food, places and activities for all different tastes. ​Studying at EC New York couldn't be different. The teachers are amazing and funny, and their classes are very dynamic and stimulating. In these three months, I have improved my English skills more than I had expected. Also, I made some good friends from all over the world, and all the things that I’ve learned from them have been priceless. I recommend EC NY for those who want to learn English in this exciting city that never sleeps!

    New York is a great city and you can do what ever you want, there is something for every taste. You can enjoy the nature in Central Park, you can go shopping, walk near the Hudson River, see a musical and more. I like the teachers because they are really motivated. You can have fun and learn at the same time. There are many students so you make friends. The classrooms are nice and I like my class. In the afternoon I like the business class and the Cambridge course. My favourite EC Activity was going to the 'US Open' game! My accommodation was near the school, Times Square, and the Empire State Building. I would come back to EC New York again.

    I Love New York!
    

    I love New York. It's my favourite city because it's a mix of a lot of cultures. I have met many people from different countries, and I have become friends with them. It's amazing how different or similar our cultures are. I have even learned some words like "Hello" in Japanese, Korean and French; it's so different, but it is really nice to know. I have always thought that the best way to learn a language is to go to the country where you can hear it every day. It's really a good practice and you learn very quickly! Why do I like EC? EC is cool, nice, big and the teachers are very friendly and knowledgeable. I think you can never get bored in classes. The classes are interesting and fun. You learn so much!

    Besides the amazing location, EC New York is a school where I've learnt how to speak better English and where I met a lot of great guys from all over the world. Moreover the teachers are very well prepared and during our classes we've talked about many interesting topics. If you have a problem, the whole staff will be ready and happy to help you. For the city, the activities, and the people, there's no better place than EC New York to have a great experience and learn English.
