    • Housing
    • The University of Washington does not arrange housing for students. However, a number of excellent options are available for students to choose from, including on-campus dormitories, off-campus residences, or a homestay experience. Students living on-campus will be close to classes, campus activities and other students. For students who prefer a more independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the campus environment. Those students who want to experience local culture first-hand may enjoy living with an American host family. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments are also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.

    • The University of Washington is located in the Pacific Northwest, one of the most beautiful and livable regions in the United States. Famous for its clean air and water and surrounded by mountains, lakes, rivers and forests, the area is a marvelous place to visit and to call home. Seattle, with a population of 635,000, is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest and offers its residents the best of city and country living. Cultural attractions include world-class museums, art galleries, an aquarium, a zoo, professional and college sports, the symphony, the opera and large annual film and music festivals. Seattle’s downtown area offers stunning mountain views of the Cascade Mountains to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west. For working professionals, Seattle is home to some of the world’s top companies and institutions, including Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Costco and REI. The city also offers world-class, exciting and eclectic food to satisfy all tastes. Those who love the outdoors have many options available to them year-round. Popular ski resorts are within reach by car from the UW campus and Seattle residents frequently take time to hit the slopes and others like to go hiking, climbing, backpacking, or biking in the nearby mountains.     • Founded in 1861, the University of Washington (UW) is one of the world’s leading universities and one of the oldest public universities on the West Coast. UW enrolls more than 50,000 students each year and is consistently ranked one of the top universities in the United States and the world. UW has multiple campuses, with the largest located in Seattle and the other two in Tacoma and Bothell. In all, UW includes 16 colleges and schools which offer 1,800 undergraduate courses each quarter. The school confers more than 12,000 bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professional degrees annually. UW has been labeled one of the “Public Ivies,” a publicly funded university considered as providing a quality of education comparable to those of the Ivy League.       Experience life as an international student at a highly ranked American university! In the Global Connections program, you’ll study alongside degree-seeking students at the University of Washington. You can improve your English and learn about current global challenges from different perspectives.

    • Are you starting your graduate studies soon? Join us for the Graduate School Preparation Program, a four-week summer program for students in a wide variety of fields. It's designed to help you gain skills to meet the challenges of studying in a U.S. graduate program with confidence.

      - Develop the advanced language and presentation skills needed for top academic performance
      - Increase your awareness of U.S. academic culture and expectations
      - Satisfy the UW English language proficiency requirement for ENGL 102 and ENGL 104 (if you're an incoming UW student and haven’t met your ELP requirement yet)

      It is the student’s responsibility to arrange transportation from the airport to campus. Taxis are available from the airport that will cost approximately US$ 50 and arrive on campus in approximately 25 minutes. Shuttle and bus service is also available.

      Thank you, I appreciate your help
      I had a wonderful time because I had many good friends from many countries here. I was able to learn about each of their countries, their culture and their thinking. They always study hard for their purpose and dream, so they made me enthusiastic about school, too. I met nice teachers. They always taught us politely and well. I had four classes each day, and every class was helpful for me. I want to say, 'Thank you, I appreciate your help.'

      Learning University Life in the U.S.
      I really liked the course Applied Academic Skills with lectures because it was quite intensive. In my opinion, it was like testing yourself to know if you are ready to take a regular class. The instructor that I had was good and helped us to understand and follow the lectures. I liked being involved in the university environment. That way, I got to learn what university life is like in the U.S.

      Encouraging Teachers
      In the academic course, I had some excellent teachers. Sometimes I lost my confidence. However, my teachers always encouraged me and inspired me to study. I learned a lot in those academic courses, especially skills such as academic writing, presentation, note-taking and academic listening. I am planning to go to graduate school in the U.S., so the study materials that my teachers handed out will be very useful to me.

      Beautiful Campus and Schedule Flexibility
      I'm very lucky to have chosen the IELP program at the University of Washington for I have gained a lot. I have improved my speaking, writing and reading skills already. In addition to the skills I have learned, I appreciate the IELP because of the flexibility of the schedule; my teachers are very helpful and understanding. The UW has also delighted me since I started this program. It is so impressive with its architecturally designed buildings, and the tall trees give shade when we stroll around the magnificent campus. I'm really enjoying my studies at this famous university.

      Level4以上(包含)很適合學生為了進美國大學前學習的課程(論文或文章)，也有商業、文化會話等多種主題選擇。
      不過如果只是來遊學的學生或程度不太好的學生建議從Level3以下(包含)開始學習，因為Level3跟Level4的困難程度差異較大請謹慎考慮。
      這邊老師都相當不錯，能夠跟得上的話可以學習到很多東西。
      學校環境相當好，周遭交通工具也相當方便，公車是我主要上課的工具。
