  • More Details
    • Student Countries of Origin
    • The IEP serves an average of 100 students each quarter from over 40 different countries. Approximately 50% are from East Asia, 36% from Latin America, and 14% from the Middle East.
    • Faculty Qualifications
    • The IEP staff and instructors are experts in the fields of teaching English as a second language (TESOL), second language acquisition, intercultural communication and linguistics. IEP requires that all of our instructors have a minimum M.A. in TESOL or a Master’s in a related field with a TESOL certificate. In addition, many of the instructors have extensive research, teaching, training and publication backgrounds.
    • Housing
    • The IEP program helps students arrange homestays, on-campus housing in UC Davis residence halls (during the summer only), and in nearby fully-furnished apartments. Homestay is a good option for students who want to directly experience American culture as a member of family. Students living in on-campus residence halls will be close to classes, campus activities and other students - both American and international. Apartments have more privacy for those students who prefer a more independent lifestyle. It is best to arrange housing as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. For more information use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.
    • Surrounding Area
    • Davis is a small, friendly university town where students experience campus life at a top-rated university in a safe and welcoming community. With a population of around 61,000 (about half of whom are university students and faculty), Davis blends a rural, small town setting with rich, cultural activities usually found in more metropolitan areas. Davis is located in northern California — about halfway between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Lake Tahoe region. Students will have access to nearby San Francisco, considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. The accessible Lake Tahoe region offers spectacular scenery and many seasonal recreational activities. Surrounded by open space and agricultural fields, Davis is within easy driving distance to the California coast, the world famous Napa Valley wine region, Sacramento (the capital of California), and the California Gold Country, where gold was discovered in 1849. Students will find that bicycles are the preferred mode of transportation in this environmentally-aware, fitness-conscious community. In fact, with more bicycles than people, Davis has long been known as “the bicycle capital of the United States.”
    • About the College/University
    • The University of California, Davis, is unique from the other branches of the greater University of California school system. Unlike some other limited branches, UC Davis offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs as well as professional schools of law, management and medicine. Ranked as one of the top 10 public institutions in the country, UC Davis supports research in numerous laboratories and facilities throughout the state. The UC Davis faculty is recognized worldwide for its academic and scientific achievements by the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the College of Engineering and the College of Letters and Science. The UC Davis campus is home to more than 36,000 undergraduate and graduate students. With a strong commitment to fostering lifelong learning, the Division of Continuing and Professional Education at UC Davis, provides an international academic atmosphere where students can study Intensive English and Professional Programs.
    • Conditional Admission / Credit Courses
    • Students with strong English skills can take courses for credit with UC Davis undergraduate students in all fields of study through the Open Campus Program. We offer two options for international students interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the United States.

The U.S. University Conditional Admissions Program (USUCAP) is a comprehensive academic prep program designed for international high-school seniors and graduates who are seeking freshman admission into a quality four-year U.S. university. UC Davis has partnered with three highly-regarded universities where interested international students can complete their bachelor’s degree.

Destination Davis is an intensive, two-and-a-half-year pathway program designed for international students who wish to improve their academic and/or language skills before transferring to the University of California. Students enter through a unique preparatory academic training program, complete a series of courses at UC Davis' partner colleges and, upon successful completion of program requirements, transfer to the University of California, Davis, or another UC campus.

      Overall I Loved California
U.C. Davis is located in such a wonderful town and it is a very good school to study at. However, the ESL classes were held in the corner of the school and the classrooms weren't as nice as I would have liked. But, I really liked the teachers and classes there and the living experence in California was wonderful. There is no better place to live in the U.S. than California!!
