Durante el proceso de inscripción

Extracto bancario o aval financiero.-

Para ser admitido en el programa tienes que enviar documentos oficiales que certifiquen que eres económicamente solvente para cubrir todos los gastos que conlleva estudiar en el extranjero, incluyendo matrícula, alojamiento y demás gastos personales. Si te patrocina tu familia, escuela o empresa, es necesario que envíes una carta firmada por tu patrocinador junto a la documentación oficial necesaria. La carta debe declarar que el patrocinador será responsable de todos los gastos durante tu estancia en el extranjero.

Declaración de intenciones.-

Algunas escuelas solicitan una redacción exponiendo los motivos por los que has decidido estudiar en el extranjero y escoger su programa en concreto. Es importante explicar qué es lo que esperas aprender en el programa y cómo lo aprendido te servirá en el futuro. La redacción debe escribirse en papel de carta normal y tener de una a dos páginas de extensión.

Personal Statement by Ana Sánchez

My name is Ana Sánchez. I am writing this letter to explain my purpose in applying to the ABC Language School. My career objective is to work as an international specialist at a governmental organization. To achieve this goal, I plan to attend a college in the United States to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

I earned my high school degree from Colegio SEK in Spain last year. I was a member of the International Exchange & Culture Club so I could explore my interest in other countries’ cultures.

Colegio SEK provides its students with a variety of international education opportunities including intensive English courses, exchange programs with our sister school in Ireland, and English classes instructed by native speakers. I had many opportunities to develop my English skills and explore my interest in foreign cultures by actively participating in classes and activities organized through my school.

I want to improve my English skills in order to be admitted to a college in the United States and experience American culture first-hand.

I am applying to your language school today for several reasons. First, your extension program will provide me with the opportunity to apply and be admitted to an American college or university. Second, your program has a very good reputation for its academic English classes. I would like to attend your TOEFL class to improve my TOEFL score. Lastly, your classes are small enough to encourage group discussion and provide students with more one-on-one interaction with the English instructor. I strongly believe the ABC English Language Program is the ideal place for me to achieve my academic goals.

Carta de recomendación.-

Como parte del proceso de inscripción, algunas escuelas solicitan una carta de recomendación escrita por alguien de tu ambiente académico o profesional. Los candidatos más adecuados para hacer observaciones objetivas que reflejan tu éxito académico y profesional, además de tu personalidad, suelen ser tus profesores o jefes de trabajo. La carta de recomendación debe escribirse en papel de carta normal y tener de una a dos páginas de extensión.

Enviar los documentos solicitados y no recibir respuesta.-

Es muy importante ponerse en contacto con la escuela si envías los documentos requeridos y no recibes respuesta. Al contactar la oficina de admisión por correo electrónico proporciona tu nombre completo y fecha en la que has enviado los documentos solicitados. Es recomendable hacer un seguimiento con la escuela para confirmar que han recibido los documentos y evitar demoras.

Cancelar tras haber enviado los documentos solicitados.-

Para cancelar tu inscripción tras haber enviado los documentos requeridos, ponte en contacto inmediatamente con la oficina de admisión de la escuela. Si quieres recibir una respuesta inmediata es recomendable que uses el teléfono, aunque también puedes enviar un fax o un correo electrónico. Cuando comuniques a la escuela tu cancelación, proporciona tu nombre completo, la fecha en que has enviado la solicitud de inscripción y la fecha en que comienza el curso. Además, pregunta sobre el reembolso del dinero si ya has pagado la matrícula o algún depósito. En la mayoría de los casos la tasa de inscripción no es reembolsable.

Petición para reexpedir un impreso I-20 debido a un error.-

A los estudiantes que escogen Estados Unidos como destino para sus estudios les será emitido un I-20 por la oficina de admisión de la escuela una vez recibidos los documentos necesarios. El I-20 es un documento fundamental para obtener un visado de estudiante en la embajada o consulado de Estados Unidos de tu país. Cuando recibas el I-20 de la escuela, revísalo atentamente para asegurarte de que no haya errores. Si es necesario hacer una corrección, ponte en contacto con la oficina de admisión lo antes posible a través del correo electrónico. Al contactar la escuela, proporciona tu nombre completo, la fecha en que has enviado la solicitud de inscripción y la fecha en que comienza el curso. Aclara el error en tu I-20, anota la corrección necesaria y solicita la expedición de un nuevo I-20.
