First Time Studying Abroad

Everyone tells me that I need more English to get a great job. I don’t know if I should study abroad. I’ve never traveled anywhere. Do you think that I should live abroad and study like my friends advised me?
Thank you, Jose

Greetings from ApplyESL.com!

Thank you for your questions.
It’s a good idea to talk to any friends you have who have studies abroad. They can tell you what the experience is really like and then you can find out if it is for you. Just because you may need English for your job may not be enough reason for you to commit to living abroad. Living in a foreign country is a serious endeavor and not for everyone. Most students go through a process which is often referred to as “culture shock” which can be challenging to overcome. You may want to simply take a trip abroad to see if it is what you really want, and if you like it, then apply to take an English course. Study abroad is not for everyone, but if you are committed to it, you can learn a lot and gain important experiences for your future.
