Visas for Married Students
I am a Chinese student and very interested in studying English in the US for 3 months. I am 24 years old and not married. My friend said it will be hard for me to get a visa. Is it true? Please help me. Ming
Dear Ming,
This is a good question and a bit difficult to answer generally due to the fact that embassies and consulates (which process visa applications) vary around the world in terms of requirements and processing times. Technically speaking, your age and marital status should not influence your ability to obtain a student visa, but your ability to provide financial documentation and also prove that you intend to return to your country once your studies are completed may have some influence on the decision. The truth is sometimes it is difficult to tell whether a visa will be received or not, but it may help to speak with former students from your country and those who have been through the process. Good luck to you!
