NESE provides an intellectually challenging program of the highest quality in a supportive and welcoming environment. Ten levels of language and culture training are offered every day to improve all skill areas including grammar, reading, writing, conversation, listening, and pronunciation. Students may also take elective classes (TOEFL Preparation, Business English, Pronunciation and Legal English). Certificates are offered upon the completion of the session and students have the option of living in either a dormitory or with a host family. Our program is designed to help students achieve their academic goals as rapidly as possible in an ideal setting. Class sizes are small (6-12 students) to ensure lively discussion, frequent student participation, and intense student-teacher interaction. NESE offers a very flexible schedule with intensive 4-week sessions beginning at 12 different times throughout the year. One of the most distinguishing features of NESE, however, is its caring and supportive environment -- one that students often describe as being like a family. - More Details
- Housing
- NESE provides students with the opportunity to live in an off-campus residence or enjoy a homestay experience. For students who prefer a more independent lifestyle, off-campus residences provide more privacy and offer opportunities to interact with people in the community outside the campus environment. NESE also arranges homestays for those students who want to experience American culture first-hand as a member of a family and practice their conversational English. Students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements as early as possible due to the limited amount of space available. Private off-campus apartments may also available; however students must make their own arrangements. For more information, use the Contact Address to ask the school directly.
- Surrounding Area
- The New England School of English (NESE) is ideally located in the center of Harvard Square in Cambridge which lies just across the Charles River from Boston and is home to two of the world’s most famous academic institutions; The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, the oldest university in the United States. Harvard Square is a large triangular area in the center of the city, at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue, Brattle Street, and John F. Kennedy Street. Adjacent to the historic heart of Harvard University and a surrounding grassy area, Harvard Square or “The Square”, as it is referred to, is ideally suited for student needs and recreation and is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bookshops and boutiques. University lectures are nearby, classic and current films are just across the street, theaters and concerts are just around the corner and music is on the street and in the parks. As the capital and largest city in Massachusetts, Boston is New England’s academic and cultural center and one of the most historic cities in the United States. Most famously nicknamed, “Beantown,” Boston was founded in 1630 by its original Native American inhabitants and is now home to over 570,000 Bostonians. Widely recognized as being America’s greatest college town, Boston has more than 100 colleges and universities and during the academic year there are more than 300,000 students in the area, creating an atmosphere rich with artistic, social and intellectual opportunities. Sports enthusiasts certainly do not have a problem finding a team to cheer for in Boston as it is the home of famous sports teams such as the Boston Celtics (NBA basketball), the New England Patriots (NFL football) and the much beloved former World Series Champions, the Boston Red Sox. There are countless opportunities for students to enjoy the city and travel with weekend getaways along the East Coast, including sightseeing in New York City, feasting on delicious lobster in Maine, hiking New Hampshire's White Mountains and exploring the magnificent beaches of Cape Cod.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.the Great and Wonderful Time2015
